PTA-sponsored 2010 SOUPER BOWL OF CARING

JANUARY 28 – FEBRUARY 5

“Warm Hands, Warm Tummies, Warm Hearts....Warming up those who need it the most”

The PTA Social Action Committee is proud to announce that our school is participating in 2010 SOUPER BOWL of CARING. Last year’s SOUPER BOWL collection was a ton of fun and a huge success. For those families new to GSCES the SOUPER BOWL of CARING uses our nation’s biggest sports event to mobilize and inspire youth to fight hunger in their own communities by donating canned or non‐perishable foods to be given to their local food bank (Germantown Help). At GSCES we add a fun twist! Our students will be able to “vote” for their favorite Super Bowl bound team by placing their donation (food or hat or mittens) in the bin of the team they hope will win. We will keep a daily tally and announce it each afternoon. Last year this created lots of excitement as the kids and staff pulled for their favorite team. This year we’re hoping for even more excitement!! At the end of our collection, when we report our school total to the SOUPER BOWL of CARING, our students become part of the national total and learn the power of working together to make a difference in the lives of others.

Collection Dates: Thursday, Jan 28th through Friday Feb 5th

Items to Donate: Canned soups, packages of soup like Ramen, Lipton, etc, and any other non‐perishable canned good (no glass containers, please). And/or a new hat, mittens/gloves or scarf in children’s sizes!

Food donations will go to Germantown Help food bank, and hats and mittens will be given to our school counselor to help kids here at our school stay warm and then offered to other elementary schools in our cluster.
